About
Dr. Anna Serafini practices in the Department of Neurology at UI Health. Dr. Serafini specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of epilepsy and seizures. Her clinical interest and research focuses on identifying the source of a patient’s seizures, and epilepsy surgery. Her expertise in the treatment of complicated and drug-resistant epilepsy includes training both in Europe (Italy, France) and the United States. Dr. Serafini also has a particular interest in women’s epilepsy issues, including contraception complications and the management of seizures and antiepileptic medications during pregnancy.
Education
Dr. Serafini attended medical school at the University of Udine, Italy, and similarly completed her residency at University Hospital of Udine in Italy. She completed an internship at Gui de Chauliac University Hospital in Montpellier, France, and completed fellowships at Northwestern University and the University of Chicago.
Research Currently in Progress
Dr. Serafini specializes in the treatment of epilepsy and seizures and therefor these conditions are what comprise her main research interests. She has been involved in many research projects, past and present, that focus on these conditions and how to improve outcomes and treatment options that improve patient care.
