Medical Students
Medical students at the University of Illinois College of Medicine (Chicago campus) participate in clinical clerkships in Neurology in the third and fourth years. The minimum requirement is a two week rotation, but interested students can extend this experience to 4 weeks by contacting the Clerkship Coordinator.
Students rotate at one of three sites, the University of Illinois Hospital, Jesse Brown VA Medical Center, or Christ Hospital. In addition to the inpatient responsibilities, students shadow Attending Physicians in the outpatient neurology clinic. During the rotation students attend lectures about the neurological exam, diagnosis, and treatment, designed specifically for medical students. Students become competent in the neurological examination, localization, and management of common neurological diseases.
