Charlene Sunkel | Founder/CEO Global Mental Health Peer Network

Charlene Sunkel is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Global Mental Health Peer Network and a leading global advocate for the rights of individuals with mental health conditions, drawing from her own lived experience of schizophrenia. Ms. Sunkel has served as a Commissioner on the Lancet Commission on Global Mental Health and Sustainable Development, and on the Lancet Commission on the Future of Psychiatry. Additionally, she Co-Chaired the Lancet Commission on Ending Stigma and Discrimination in Mental Health. As Editor-in-Chief of PLOS Mental Health, an open access publication, she continues to influence the field. Ms. Sunkel also shares her expertise on various international boards and committees. Her work has been recognized with numerous national and international awards, including the Swiss Foundation/WHO Outstanding Achievement in the Field of Mental Health, the Pardes Humanitarian Prize in Mental Health, and a WPA Presidential Commendation
