Residency Program

The Department of Dermatology at the University of Illinois College of Medicine offers a comprehensive Residency Program designed to equip residents with the knowledge and skills necessary for excellence in dermatologic care. Through a structured curriculum and hands-on clinical experiences, residents engage in diverse learning opportunities, fostering their expertise in diagnosing and treating a wide range of dermatological conditions. The program is fully accredited by ACGME.
  • All applications should be submitted to ERAS (Electronic Residency Application Service)
  • U.S. or foreign medical school graduates will be considered.
  • We only offer “Advanced” training positions (PGY-II to PGY-IV).

Documents to be Submitted

The following documents should be submitted with the ERAS Common Application form:

  • Minimum of three (3) letters of recommendation
  • MSPE/Dean’s letter
  • Personal statement
  • Transcript
  • USMLE scores, Step 1 and Step 2

Dates to Remember

  • Applications Open: September 3rd, 2025
  • Application Deadline: September 24th, 2025
  • Interview Months: December 2025/ January 2026

If you are selected for an interview, you will receive communication from the program sometime in November. Interviews will be held virtually.

2025 Admissions Process

  • Selected qualified applicants will be invited for a personal interview.
  • Applicants are ranked and accepted through the NRMP (National Resident Matching Program).
  • Applications are to be submitted to ERAS by September 24th, 2025
  • There are only 4 Residency slots being offered for Academic Year 2029-2030.
