The 2023-2024 Second Year Residents

Alexander Woods, MD

Alexander Woods grew up in Farmington Hills, MI. He completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Michigan Ann Arbor. He subsequently earned his medical degree at the Chicago Medical School at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science, where he graduated with honors. Prior to UIC, he completed his intern year training at Trinity Health Livonia in Michigan. His research interests include cutaneous oncology, and he hopes to bring compassionate care to all of his patients. In his spare time, Alexander likes to play tennis and golf, root tireless for the Michigan Wolverines football team, explore Chicago, and spend time with family and friends.

Allison Ellis, MD

Allison grew up in Saint Paul, Minnesota. She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Wisconsin- Madison. Allison then moved to Chicago where she was a part of the Medical Scientist Training Program at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine, where she graduated with honors after completing her MD and PhD degrees. As a Dermatology Resident, Allison Is interested in general dermatology, vascular malformations, and melanoma. Outside of medicine, Allison enjoys spending time with her family, reading fiction, and going on walks with her dog.

Lacey Zimmerman, MD

Lacey grew up in Mattoon, a small town in south-central Illinois. She completed her undergraduate degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she met her husband, Andrew. She completed medical school at the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago and an intern year at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria, OSF Saint Francis Medical Center. In her free time, she enjoys floral arranging, baking, trying new restaurants, and spending time with family, friends, and her cat, Luna.

Yonatan Hirsch, MD

Yoni Hirsch grew up in Evanston, Illinois. He attended the University of Michigan for undergraduate education where he majored in English. He then spent a year working for AmeriCorps City Year in Chicago, Illinois. He graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine and then completed a preliminary internal medicine intern year at Loyola University Medical Center. In his free time, Yoni enjoys traveling to national parks, watching improv comedy shows in Chicago, and cheering for the Michigan Wolverines and Chicago Bears football teams.
