Dr. Nikhil J. Bhatt, MD is a nationally recognized otolaryngologist and surgical innovator with over four decades of expertise in ear, nose, and throat care. Dr. Bhatt has built a reputation for clinical excellence, minimally invasive surgical techniques, and global medical education.
A pioneer in endoscopic sinus surgery, Dr. Bhatt is the author and editor of numerous surgical training materials, including the widely acclaimed multimedia project, Advanced Endoscopic Sinus Surgery: Targeted Problems and Solutions, and the textbook Endoscopic Sinus Surgery: New Horizons (1997). His work has earned him more scientific exhibit awards than any other contributor at the annual meetings of the American Academy of Otolaryngology—Head and Neck Surgery (AAO-HNS).
Dr. Bhatt has lectured and conducted workshops worldwide since 1989, sharing his expertise in advanced ENT procedures. He has led key initiatives to elevate surgical standards globally, training physicians from across the world through hands-on education and immersive clinical experiences.
His leadership roles include serving as Foundation Development Coordinator and Chair of the International Otolaryngology Committee at the AAO-HNS Foundation, and as President of the American Association of Otolaryngologists of Indian Heritage. He also served as President at Provena St. Joseph Hospital and Director of the Sherman Laser and Advanced Surgery Center, where he helped launch a multidisciplinary center focused on technology-driven procedures.
Dr. Bhatt is equally committed to philanthropy and education. He established the Bhatt Scholarship Fund for nursing education and the Bhatt Laser Research Institute, which hosts international ENT fellows in Chicago for research and training. He also played a key role in founding the Nikhil Bhatt Surgical Training Lab Center and the UIC Nikhil Bhatt MD Endowment Fund to enhance resident training at the University of Illinois. In recognition of his global impact, AAO-HNS created two awards in his honor: the Nikhil J. Bhatt, MD International Public Service Award and the International Humanitarian Award.
Through a career defined by innovation, mentorship, and service, Dr. Bhatt continues to shape the future of otolaryngology worldwide.
