About
Dr Amaral (she/her) is born and raised in Brazil, where she completed medical school, pediatrics residency and pediatric infectious diseases fellowship. She then immigrated to the US and completed a residency in family medicine, becoming board certified. She joined the DFCM in 2020 and serves as core faculty since 2022. She is fluent in English, Spanish and Portuguese.

Clinical Interests: Dr. Ana Carvalho do Amaral practices in the Department of Family & Community Medicine at UI Health. Dr. Amaral provides care for patients of all ages and genders. She has special interest in LGBTQ+ inclusive care, pediatrics and vaccine research. Dr. Amaral is dedicated in improving care for migrants and other underserved populations. Dr Amaral is also core faculty for the family medicine residency program and devoted to medical student and resident education.
Research Interests: Pediatrics, mental health, underserved populations, vaccinology and immune response.
