The UIC Division of Pediatric Surgery has an excellent reputation for patient care, education and research. Families can rest assured that their children are in good hands as we provide pediatric surgical expertise with compassion. The pediatric surgery team is sensitive to the concerns and care of each child and we treat the family as a whole to ensure their visit to UIHHSS is an easy and comfortable experience.  We carry out all types of general surgical, thoracic and urologic procedures in infants, children and adolescents with particular expertise in laparoscopic surgery, thoracoscopic surgery, adolescent bariatric surgery, the management of children with congenital abnormalities and specialize in meeting with pregnant mothers carrying a child with a suspected birth defect.
