Otoacoustic Emission Measures

Otoacoustic emission measures give the audiologist a direct look at the function of the most important and most susceptible structures in the auditory system, the outer-hair cells of the inner ear.

When these structures are dysfunctional, it usually results in a permanent “sensorineural” hearing loss.

By determining how well these structures are functioning, audiologists can quickly and accurately screen for hearing loss in all ages.
