For individuals with severe to profound hearing loss that receive no real benefit from hearing aids, the cochlear implant device has brought or restored hearing to many.

Because comprehensive treatment is our goal, our Cochlear Implant Team is comprised of two cochlear implant specialists, a neurotologist, a child psychologist and a pediatric speech-language pathologist.

Our program has a very strong educational emphasis and offers extensive aural rehabilitation following surgery.  The Illinois Cochlear Implant Pediatric Support Group is directed from our facility as well.

The University of Illinois Medical Center is the largest site in the Chicago area to serve both children and adult cochlear implant patients.
