About

I am an academic neuropathologist serving as Director of Neuropathology. Clinical diagnostic services include examination of central and peripheral nervous system tissues for diagnosis and support of the mission of clinical departments including Neurosurgery, Neurology, Radiology and Psychiatry.  We perform our services in close collaboration with multiple other departmental units including but not limited to Molecular Pathology and Cytogenetics. We provide both general tissue diagnoses as well as special testing using immunocytochemistry, in situ hybridization and molecular biology technology. Educational activities include teaching neuropathology to pathology, neurology and neurosurgery residents and medical students through scheduled neuropathology rotations, conferences and lectures. My research activities primarily focus on mechanisms of herpes simplex virus infection-induced acute and chronic neurodegeneration, brain tumors, and mechanisms of tumor resistance to oncolytic virotherapy.
