About

Dr. Rubenfeld is a General Otolaryngologist with particular interest and expertise in surgical diseases of the thyroid and parathyroid glands. His practice encompasses the entire range of General Otolaryngology, however. Dr. Rubenfeld's philosophy is deeply rooted in patient safety and quality surgical and clinical outcomes. He acts as the Surgeon Champion for our institution's participation in the American College of Surgeons-National Surgical Quality Improvement Program.

Dr. Rubenfeld works closely with the department's mission to develop Quality Improvement initiatives both within the framework of hospital operations in addition to resident programming. Dr. Rubenfeld has and continues to contribute to many leadership roles in the department and hospital serving 6 years as Clinic Medical Director; currently serving as Associate Chief Medical Officer of the Hospital; and sitting at Chair of the Medical Staff Review Board among others. Dr. Rubenfeld's greatest joy comes from his charming and brilliant young daughters and amazing wife. He enjoys cooking for others, is a politics wonk, loves to garden. More often than not, Dr. Rubenfeld relates the day’s events in terms of 80's and 90's iconic music and movies.

Research Currently in Progress

  • Clinical investigation established treatment guidelines for patients with simultaneous head and neck and pulmonary malignancies. Basic science investigation studied tracheal re-epithelialization with cell culture models
  • Elaboration of a treatment protocol based on principals’ successful experience with autoimmune hearing loss
  • Investigated mouse antibody response to vaccine carrier viruses and marker genes
