Medical Students
The Department of Neurosurgery offers medical students opportunities for observerships and clerkships.
Observership Heading link
The Department of Neurosurgery is pleased to accommodate observors on the basis of availability and sponsorship by a neurosurgery faculty member. Observors will have the opportunity to observe neurosurgical cases in the OR, attend ICU/resident rounds and attend conferences. Observors will not have access to hands-on patient care or direct involvement with surgery.
To arrange a visit as a clinical observer, you must first identify a faculty within the Department who agrees to serve as your sponsor for your visit, and then provide the following information:
- Written confirmation of faculty sponsor
- Cover letter including dates of requested visit
- Curriculum Vitae
- Current Photo
- Letter of good standing as a neurosurgeon or neurosurgical trainee, from applicant’s home institution. (Medical students should provide a letter confirming current status from their institution.)
This listed information must be collected before submission. You may then submit the information to the Clerical Assitant, Stephen Turner.
