The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery Faculty and Residents are involved in many new and on-going research projects. Residents are encouraged to become involved in current projects within the department as well as create their own projects as desired. The University of Illinois provides tremendous opportunities and resources for resident and faculty research. Residents have access to the University of Illinois Biological Resources Laboratory, the Hektoen Animal Facility, the University of Illinois Biomechanics Lab, and the University of Illinois Orthopedic Laboratory. At a minimum, each resident is required to complete one research project during his or her five-year residency program. Below is a sampling of faculty members’ recent publications
