Prins Honored by National Urological Society with Distinguished Service Award

Gail S. Prins, Ph.D., Michael Reese Professor of Urology and Physiology, has been selected as recipient of the 2019 Dist inguished Service Award by the Society for Basic Urologic Research (SBUR) for her lifelong professional contributions to t he advancement of urologic research.
Dr. Prins will receive her award at SBUR’s Annual Meeting in New Orleans this November.
“Dr. Prins’ accomplishments over the past generation are remarkable and reflect her breadth of scholarship and interdisciplinarity,” says Craig Niederberger, MD, FACS, Clarence C. Saelhof Professor and Head, Department of Urology, UIC College of Medicine, Professor, Department of Bioengineering, UIC College of Engineering.
Dr. Prins is a globally recognized expert and researcher in prostate development and cancer, endocrine disrupting chemicals, and sperm crypreservation with multiple grants in these areas from the National Institutes of Health, Department of Defense, and others.
A widely published researcher, she has received multiple awards from the American Society of Andrology (of which she is a past president) , Society for Women in Urology, and others. She is also a past president of SBUR.
