Observership Program

Visiting Observers - Train with the best. Shape the future of Urology

We welcome visiting observers to participate in a urology learning experience at our main medical campus, located in the Illinois Medical District, the largest urban medical district in the country. Observers can choose between either a clinical observership at the hospital and clinics, or a basic research experience, in our laboratories or the UIC Innovation Center.
Our program is led by a dynamic team of innovative faculty, offering you unparalleled exposure to a wide range of urological specialties—including urologic oncology, reconstructive urology, pediatric urology, robotic surgery, and infertility.

Beyond clinical training, you’ll have the opportunity to engage in cutting-edge research projects, contributing to advancements in the field. Whether in the operating room or the lab, you’ll gain the expertise and experience to excel in your urology career.

Located just west of downtown in the heart of Chicago, the Illinois Medical District puts you steps away from world-class hospitals, research centers, and vibrant neighborhoods like Little Italy—offering a perfect blend of professional growth and urban living.

Need temporary housing? You can find convenient short-term rentals in the area, so you can focus on your training while enjoying everything the city has to offer. With easy access to downtown, dining, culture, and entertainment, your time here will be as rewarding outside the hospital as it is inside. Train where innovation meets opportunity—in one of America’s greatest cities.
