UIC Movember 2018

Movember is a movement to raise awareness around men’s health issues by growing facial hair in the month of November as part of a national movement. No-Shave November specifically calls attention to mental health, prostate cancer and testicular cancer by growing facial hair, which many cancer patients lose. According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) cancer is one of the leading causes of death for men. UIC’s team -“UIC Got Moustache?”– held a basketball tournament to raise funds on our team page to assist with our Men’s Health initiatives.

Last year UIC raised more than $2,000 dollars to assist with community engagement initiatives and raise awareness around Men’s Health topics such as prostate and testicular cancer, mental health, diabetes, and hypertension.
