Dr. Stephen Harris & Veiga-Lopez
2023 Dr. Veiga-Lopez received Stephen B. Harris Mid-Career Scientist Award from the Reproductive and Developmental Toxicology Specialty Section (RDTSS), Society of Toxicology
This award recognizes an active regular member of the RDTSS for outstanding research and scientific contribution completed since graduate and/or postdoctoral training. The criteria for the award are originality, discovery, and excellence in the field of Reproductive and Developmental Toxicology as evidenced by peer-reviewed manuscripts in journals of high caliber, teaching, mentorship, leadership, contributions to regulatory DART practice/guidelines.

Natalia’s work focused on the spatial evaluation of region-specific dyslipidemia in mouse ovaries exposed to tributyltin using state-of-the-art MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry imaging.

2023 Elvis received the Sheldon D. Murphy Postdoctoral Endowment Award, Mechanisms Specialty Section, Society of Toxicology
Elvis’ was selected for an oral platform to present his work where a mixture of epidermal growth factor receptor-disrupting chemicals reduces cellular bioenergetics and alters mitochondrial dynamics in human placental trophoblast cells.

2023 Anita received the Toxicologists of African Origin Travel Award, Society of Toxicology
Anita presented her work on the effects of a complex chemical mixture on placental cell function through the epidermal growth factor receptor.

2022 Dr. Veiga-Lopez is awarded with the Society of Toxicology Colgate-Palmolive Grant for Alternative Research
The Colgate-Palmolive Grant for Alternative Research supports efforts that promote, develop, or refine, acceptable animal alternative methods to facilitate the safety assessment of new chemicals and formulations. We will work on developing a Novel 3-Dimensional Hepatic-Placental Tandem Organ-on-a-Chip in collaboration with Dr. Kethani's Lab at UIC.
