We are broadly interested in how stressors (chemical exposures, diet) impact the fate of the developing organism. Our studies lay on the foundation of the Developmental Origins of Health and Disease Theory (DoHAD), proposed by Dr. Barker in 1990. This hypothesis proposes that, hormonal, nutritional, and metabolic environment to which the offspring is exposed during development can permanently “program” many aspects of fetal development and subsequent expression of fetal physiology during adulthood.
