Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary physicians named Super Doctors®

UI Ophthalmology physicians named Super Doctors®

Super Doctors®, a physician rating service, released the names of 31 Chicago ophthalmologists in May, including 11 who see patients at the Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary subspecialty services.  Another six ophthalmologists on the list received their residency training at the Infirmary.

Super Doctors® identifies the top doctors in a city or region by surveying their peers and through independent research conducted by Key Professional Media.  Only the highest scoring doctors are included on their list; they represent 5% of the physicians practicing within the city or region.

“The strong presence of the Department on an independent rating list of top ophthalmologists in a city as large as Chicago is an indication of the excellent quality of our patient care and teaching,” said Joel Sugar, MD, Interim Head of the Department of Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences, who is included on the list.  “Of course, these lists don’t tell the whole story.  Every one of our services is staffed with equally good physicians whose names will be included on these lists as their careers advance,” he added.
