One new treatment for age related macular degeneration, which now affects more than 1.75 million people in the U.S., is the drug delivery system called Verisome® from Icon BioSciences, Inc. Dr. Lim recently completed a pilot study that combined a leading treatment for neovascular AMD – Lucentis® (ranbisumab) – with Verisome which resulted in patients needing fewer Lucentis injections.
