About
I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine. I am also associated with the University of Illinois Cancer, the Center for Dissemination and Implementation Science, and the Center for Global Health at UIC.
As a researcher, I aim to design and evaluate implementation strategies for primary care interventions that improve cancer outcomes. My research has focused on improving outcomes in under-resourced populations in the U.S. and Mexico. I have been conducting collaborative research in Mexico since 2019. As a fellow, I completed a clinical research master’s degree including a specialized track in implementation science. I have studied the implementation of interventions for breast, cervical, anal, and colorectal cancer. While conducting research in Mexico, I observed that there was a need for research on the implementation of breast cancer survivorship care in Mexico and other low-and-middle income countries. I'm currently developing a collaboration with researchers from Mexico City to address this need. I also contribute to research at the UIC Cancer Survivorship Program in Chicago. Clinically, I divide my time between a full-spectrum primary care practice and a community clinic for cancer survivors.
