Introduction
Congratulations to Dr. Naba and her co-authors on the publication of their review titled "Understanding and targeting the tumour matrisome" in the prestigious journal Nature Reviews Clinical Oncology.
This review describes the novel technologies developed to define the composition, physical and mechanical properties, and signalling functions of the extracellular matrix (ECM). It then illustrates how the ECM can be leveraged to devise prognostic or diagnostic clinical tests. Last, the authors discuss strategies to target the ECM for clinical benefit through the targeted delivery of therapeutic payloads, normalizing the tumour ECM through matritherapies or modulating ECM signalling pathways.
