Victoria L. Bautch, PhD (University of North Carolina): “LINCing the Nucleus to Endothelial Cell Function in Blood Vessels”

May 1, 2026

11:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Location

Moss Auditorium, 1020 COMRB

Host: Monica Lee, PhD

Endothelial cells that line blood vessels respond to blood flow-generated mechanical signals to the nucleus to function properly. Endothelial cell nuclear responses become less effective with age, leading to age-related vascular dysfunction and disease. We study how the endothelial cell nucleus integrates with the cytoskeleton via the LINC complex to transduce extracellular forces that regulate blood vessel function, such as shear stress from blood flow.
