Career Aspirations/Interests: Transitions of care for patients with disabilities, immigrant and refugee health, health disparities research

Current Extracurriculars/Research: I've been a part of the Mobile Migrant Health Team (MMHT) from the beginning, initially providing care to newly arrived migrant individuals and families in Chicago. Our outreach has since expanded through Clínica Nuevas Raíces, a free clinic based in the Pilsen Food Pantry. Additionally, we lead research initiatives, including focus groups with migrant parents of children with disabilities, to better understand their needs and reduce barriers to care.

Hobbies: I started throwing pottery a couple of years ago and can now make a decent mug or bowl. I also enjoy running, albeit slowly. Plus, I am quite familiar with the Chicago restaurant scene and can give great recs, especially for Mexican food!

Other Interesting Facts: I have white cat with black spots that resemble a cow's print, which earned her one of her many nicknames, "vaquita."

What I Love About UIC: Since starting my clerkships, I've met and worked alongside incredible UIC Med-Peds residents and attendings, who inspired me to pursue this specialty and follow in their footsteps. Beyond that, I've also valued the opportunity to connect with Spanish-speaking patients through both clinical care and community outreach at UIC!
