Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics Fellowship

The DBP-UIC Fellowship is a comprehensive, interdisciplinary, 36-month training program, fully accredited by the ACGME.

The DBP-UIC Fellowship prepares and empowers the next generation of developmental and behavioral pediatricians through clinical training at a flagship public teaching hospital, along with experiences in the Illinois Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities (LEND) program, the School of Public Health, community-based organizations, and other interdisciplinary settings. Rooted in UIC’s values of social responsibility, the program is dedicated to advancing access to high-quality, evidence-based care for all children with developmental delays and disabilities. The fellowship emphasizes leadership, advocacy, public health, family-centered care, policy, and research. Graduates will be equipped to lead systems-level change and improve outcomes for children and families.

The DBP-UIC Fellowship prepares fellows to be leaders in developmental health in the following areas.

  • Clinical Expertise: Deliver comprehensive, evidence-based, family-centered care for children with developmental and behavioral conditions across a range of clinical and community settings.
  • Research Excellence: Foster research skills that contribute to the understanding, optimized trajectory, and management of developmental and behavioral disabilities.
  • Education and Advocacy: Address health disparities and drive system-level change to improve outcomes for children with developmental and behavioral conditions and their families through coordinated efforts at the individual, community, systems, and policy levels.
  • Leadership Development: Equip fellows with leadership skills to influence policies, clinical practice, and interdisciplinary collaboration in developmental and behavioral pediatrics.
