UIC Pediatric Collaborative

Together, we learn. Together, we lead. Together, we improve the health of children.

The UIC Pediatric Collaborative reflects who we are as a Department and how we work together. Grounded in excellence, collaboration, and service, we bring together faculty, trainees, staff, patients, families, and community partners with a shared purpose: improving the health and well-being of every child.

The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Illinois Chicago advances child health through exceptional patient care, education, research, advocacy, and community partnership. As part of the Children's Hospital at UI Health, we serve as a major referral center for pediatric specialty care while operating one of the busiest general pediatric outpatient centers in Chicago. Our teams care for children with the full spectrum of pediatric conditions—from routine childhood illnesses to the most complex acute and chronic diseases.

Education is at the heart of our mission. Our faculty are dedicated clinician-educators, researchers, and mentors who prepare the next generation of pediatricians through bedside teaching, innovative simulation, a comprehensive educational curriculum, and meaningful mentorship. Together, we cultivate physicians who are equipped to provide compassionate, evidence-based, and family-centered care in every community they serve.

Discovery and innovation are equally central to our work. Faculty and trainees collaborate on research that addresses many of the most pressing issues affecting children and adolescents, including asthma, childhood obesity, adolescent mental health, adverse childhood experiences, health services research, and other priorities that improve the lives of children and families.

Our greatest strength is our people. Faculty, trainees, and staff bring a wide range of experiences, expertise, talents, and perspectives that enrich our learning environment and strengthen our ability to care for children and families. We foster a culture built on professionalism, mutual respect, curiosity, teamwork, and lifelong learning—one where every member of our community is encouraged to contribute, collaborate, and grow.

The UIC Pediatric Collaborative is more than a name. It reflects our belief that the best ideas emerge when people learn from one another, support one another, and work together toward a common goal. Whether caring for patients, educating future pediatricians, advancing scientific discovery, or partnering with our communities, we are united by a shared commitment to improving the health of children.

Together, we learn. Together, we lead. Together, we improve the health of children.
