Ria Marathe receives the 2026 COM Dean’s Biomedical Sciences Scholar Award
Ria Marathe recieves Scholar Award
Ria is a PhD candidate in the Veiga-Lopez Lab investigating how neonicotinoid pesticide exposures affect placental function and pregnancy outcomes. Her work spans primary human placental cell models, an in vivo toxicokinetic study in mice, and a collaborative placenta-liver microphysiological platform. She has been selected as one of six recipients of the 2026 College of Medicine Dean’s Biomedical Sciences Scholar Award, which provides full graduate stipend support for one year along with trainee-related and travel expenses.
