Natalia receives Honorable Mention at the 2025 Endocrine Images Award Competition
Congratulations to Natalia for receiving an Honorable Mention in the 2025 Endocrine Society Images Award Competition!
Her image, titled “Changing of the seasons,” showcases mouse ovaries imaged by MALDI mass spectrometry, revealing age-related changes in ovarian lipid distribution. Each ovary “petal” in the flower-shaped arrangement represents a different reproductive stage: young (top five), old (bottom five), and mature-aged (center). Over 500 lipid species were detected, with four ion distributions highlighted in magenta, cyan, yellow, and bronze. The image captures follicular, oocyte, and stromal lipidomic shifts with aging—representing the first spatial visualization of ovarian lipidomic aging in mice.
