BIRCWH alum Dr. Beatriz Penalver-Bernabe, PhD and Dr. Janine Clayton, M.D., FARVO, NIH Associate Director for Research on Women’s Health and Director, NIH ORWH attended the Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES) meeting in Baltimore, MD on October 25, 2024.
At the University of Illinois Chicago’s booth, Dr. Penalver-Bernabe presented three distinct projects, entitled as follows:
- Depression during pregnancy is associated with a dysregulated maternal microbiota-gut-brain axis
- Creation and validation of LIMÓN-Longitudinal Individuals Microbial Omics Networks
- Brain functionality changes with perinatal anxiety symptomatology
