About
Dr. Zax holds a PhD in Clinical Child Psychology from the University of Kansas. Her research is dedicated to understanding bidirectional associations between caregiver and youth behavioral health, as well as designing and implementing interventions to support caregivers of youth with psychiatric concerns. During her doctoral studies, she focused on outcome multifinality among children exposed to trauma and the influence of stress, cognitive factors, and caregiver well-being on developmental pathways. Using an individual and systems-level approach, her long-term aim is to ameliorate disparities in mental health service access for caregivers to, in turn, improve mental health outcomes across family systems.
Research Project
Currently, Dr. Zax is conducting a mixed-methods study to 1) examine behavioral health challenges and 2) identify specific points of intervention to support mothers of youth receiving psychiatric services.
