Adhir Shroff, MD, MPH
Adhir Shroff, MD, MPH, professor of clinical medicine, has been appointed as interim chief of the Division of Cardiology.
Dr. Shroff has been a valued and respected faculty member of the Department of Medicine since 2004. He earned his medical degree from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine, completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, where he also served as chief resident, and completed cardiology and interventional cardiology fellowships at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Medical School. Dr. Shroff currently serves as chief of clinical service for the Division of Cardiology and chief of Interventional Cardiology, and he previously served as director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratories at UI Health for 15 years. A national leader in radial-artery catheterization, he is widely recognized for his expertise in interventional cardiology and nonsurgical cardiac procedures.
Dawood Darbar, MBChB, MD, Division Chief of Cardiology, has been named Chair of Medicine at Penn State College of Medicine and Penn State Health, effective March, 2026. In addition to his role as department chair, Dr. Darbar will serve as co-director of the Heart and Vascular Institute and vice president of the Penn State Health Cardiovascular Service Line. We are grateful to Dr. Darbar for his leadership and more than a decade of dedicated service to the Department of Medicine and the College of Medicine at UIC. We congratulate him on this exciting appointment and wish him continued success in this new chapter.
