Dr. Heather Nixon Honored With 2016 Society for Obstetric Anesthesia and Perinatology’s Research in Education Award

Residency Program Director Dr. Heather Nixon won the Society for Obstetric Anesthesia and Perinatology’s (SOAP) Research in Education Award this past weekend at this year’s annual meeting in Boston, MA. She was selected for her abstract “A Randomized Controlled Study to Evaluate the Effects of a Computer-Enhanced Visual Learning (CEVL Neuraxial) Tool to Teach Anesthesiology Residents to Perform Combined Spinal Epidural Placements in Obstetric Patients”
The Research in Education Award was established in 2001 by the SOAP Board of Directors and first given at the May 2002 Annual Meeting in Hilton Head, South Carolina. The award criteria are:
*Abstracts may focus on the education of medical students, residents, patients, obstetric care providers, or the community
*All health care providers (anesthesiologists, fellows, residents, obstetricians, nurses, etc.) are eligible as long as they are a member of SOAP or sponsored by a SOAP member
Dr. Nixon was also newly appointed to the Board of Directors as the Media Chair and Newsletter Editor, and elected to serve as host of the 51st Annual SOAP meeting to be held in Phoenix, Arizona in 2019.
