Guochang Hu, MD, PhD, invited to serve as a member of the Surgery, Anesthesiology and Trauma Study Section, NIH Center for Scientific Review

The National Institutes of Health Center for Scientific Review notified us that Guochang Hu, MD, PhD, will become a member of Surgery, Anesthesia, and Trauma (SAT) scientific study section. This is a tremendous honor and indicative of the high esteem that Dr. Hu is held by the national scientific community.

Dr. Hu has been affiliated with the UIC Department of Anesthesiology for many years. He worked with George J. Crystal, PhD (a pioneer in anesthesia research) for years, then worked and collaborated with Dr. Richard Minshall, Ph.D. before becoming an independent investigator. Dr. Hu was recently promoted to Associate Professor with Tenure and has an NIH- R01 grant.  He is an expert in the immunological basis of acute lung injury as well as the effects of anesthetics on immune cells. He was recently named Editor of Frontiers in Immunology. Dr. Hu is truly blazing a great trail and a great career. We are fortunate to have him in the Department of Anesthesiology.
