Student Listservs – Info and Archive Pages

There are 5 Administrative lists (ADMIN lists). These are used for postings considered of Administrative importance – grades, registration, seminars, deadlines and so forth. Content is moderated, so only messages deemed truly important to students will be allowed through. Subscription to these lists is closed, you will be added by the Office of Student Affairs. If you need to be added to or removed from a list, or to be on more than one list, etc. please contact Dean Mark Urosev. The messages from these lists are all tagged with ADMIN in the subject line, and all content is archived for one year.

Students and student organizations are encouraged to use https://medicine.uic.edu/slack/“>SLACK when communicating to classmates, advertising events and sharing resources and opportunities.

We do appreciate that some students will change the year they expect to graduate. You can subscribe to more than one list, and you can set the medclass lists to mail or no mail as needed.

How do I subscribe to a MEDCLASS Listserv?

You can only subscribe from your UIC mail account.

Send an e-mail to [email protected]. Put in the message body
SUBSCRIBE MedclassXXXX
where XXXX=desired class year, for example Medclass2006
NOTE there are no spaces after Medclass!!

Send this message from your regular UIC mail account. This will not work through gmail.com even if you can use your UIC account that way.

You will get a confirmation request: follow the directions (basically, you click the link provided).

After your subscription is confirmed, you can set it so you won’t get messages from that listserv but still can send to it. This is useful for class listservs other than your own, or if you do not need to receive messages from the list for a while. Send another message to [email protected]. Put in the message body
SET medclassXXXX nomail
(again, XXXX=desired class year)

To change so that you receive mail again, send the message with the command in the message body:
SET medclassXXXX mail
(again, XXXX=desired class year)

Where do I find the Archives of these lists?

Note – when you go to the archives, you may be asked to log in with a listserv password, which is different from your Technology Solutions password. Use the Technology Solutions utility to get a Listserv password for this server if you don’t already have one or if you’ve forgotten yours.
