- Registration Opens for New MCAT Exam. Aspiring medical students can now register to take the exam in April through June. New free and low-cost study resources also are available, including a full-length sample test, practice questions, and the Khan Academy MCAT Collection, with more than 800 free videos and 1,000 review questions.
- Call for Proposals: 2015 Research in Medical Education Research and Review Papers. There are two submission categories: research papers, which must describe completed medical education research, and review papers, which synthesize existing research and provide direction for future research and practice.

- AAMC Publishes Comprehensive Data Report on Residents – The Report on Residents includes information on the characteristics of residency applicants and residents, as well as information on what residents do after completing their training programs.
- The Report on Medical School Faculty Salaries, 2013-2014 is now available. This publication is the AAMC’s 49th review of full-time faculty compensation. The Report includes 33 tables that present the total compensation attributable to teaching, patient care, or research for 103,661 full-time medical school faculty.
- AAMC’s first-ever Report on Residents, an online collection of current and historical data related to graduate medical education (GME) is available now. It includes information on characteristics of residency applicants and residents, as well as information on the outcomes of residents (e.g., some may become faculty members or remain in the state of their training).
- New AAMC Resource for Public Health Training Opportunities – The AAMC has launched a new Web-based resource of public health training opportunities for learners across the medical education continuum. Public Health Pathways is a searchable database of domestic and international public and population health training opportunities in academic, government, and community settings for pre-med students, medical students, residents, and post-residents.
- AAMC Advancing Holistic Review Initiative (AHRI) is pleased to announce the 2015 release of the workshop Holistic Review in Admissions: Challenging Conventional Thinking and Practice. The workshop is designed to assist medical schools in enhancing student body diversity as a means of achieving the mission-based excellence they seek. - TEDMED Discussion on Impact of Poverty on Health – The AAMC recently participated in TEDMED’s Great Challenges program sponsored by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. The online discussion focused on the impact of poverty on health, and how to effectively incorporate social determinants of health into medical education and practice.
- New Financial Literacy Resources for Medical Students and Residents – (AAMC) is pleased to announce a new collaboration with American Student Assistance (ASA) to help the members of the academic medicine community strengthen their financial literacy and money management skills. ASA’s program, SALT™, is a leading financial education and engagement program that empowers students and alumni to confidently approach, manage, pay for and pay back college costs while improving their financial literacy skills. - Academic Medicine – MedEd One-off: Community College Pathways: Improving the US Physician Workforce Pipeline
- AAMC is pleased to announce the launch of a new web-based resource of public health training opportunities for learners across the medical education continuum.
- Public Health Pathways is a searchable database of domestic and international public and population health training opportunities in academic, government, and community settings for pre-med students, medical students, residents, and post-residents.
- The 2015 application cycle for the AAMC Fee Assistance Program is now open, and has been updated to reflect new requirements to better aid individuals who are awarded fee assistance. Beginning this year, the program is open to applicants with Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) status, a change that reflects the growing number of institutions that are opening doors to students with DACA status. The program requires that applicants include financial information for all living parents and allows them to use their award for up to two years without reapplying.
- The AAMC is now accepting abstracts for the 2015 Integrating Quality Meeting in Chicago. The 7th annual meeting will be held June 11-12, and targets clinical and education leadership, as well as faculty, trainees, and students from academic medical centers, teaching hospitals, health professions schools, and other health care organizations that are implementing programs to improve value, quality, and patient safety.
