Dr. Shah along with his co-authors will receive a Distinguished Clinical Study award from JVIR for their article “Combined transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt plus variceal obliteration versus transjugular intrahepatic shunt alone for the management of gastric varices: comparative single-center outcomes.” The article is one of 10 published in JVIR in the past year to receive the award.
Dr. Ketan Shah, MD– Dr. Shah completed his residency at Baylor College of Medicine. He has multiple publications including many written during his tenure at UI COM. He is currently Director of Radiology Medical Student education at the University of Illinois College of Medicine.
Dr. Gaba and co-authors were awarded the best Drug Delivery and Translational Research in the year for their article “Conventional versus drug-eluting embolic transarterial chemoembolization with doxorubicin: comparative drug delivery, pharmacokinetics, and treatment response in a rabbit VX2 tumor model.”
Dr. Ron C. Gaba– Dr. Gaba completed his medical degree at the University of Michigan and his residency in Diagnostic Radiology at the University of Illinois College of Medicine, followed by a fellowship in interventional radiology at Northwestern. Dr. Gaba has been faculty at the UI COM for 14 years as a physician and professor. Dr. Gaba currently has multiple positions at the University of Illinois College of Medicine’s including Assistant Dean for Joint Degree Programs and Student Research, section head of interventional radiology, and Vice Head of Research for the Department of Radiology.
