On June 4, 2017, Jill Surdyka, Director, Community Engagement, Avon Breast Cancer Crusade presented Dr. Kent Hoskins with a $75,000 grant. The grant will support expansion of the breast cancer navigation program which is a key part of the breast program’s efforts to improve access and timeliness of care for underserved women in the community who are diagnosed with breast cancer at outside facilities. Dr. Hoskins leads the breast cancer program and serves as PI as on the grant. Eileen Knightly, Hematology-Oncology clinic director, is a co-investigator on the grant. The grant is a one year grant with an annual competitive renewal. UI Health is one of only 2 academic centers in Chicago to receive the grant this year. The grant is funded by the Chicago Avon39 Walk to End Breast Cancer.
