Dr. Jose Cordoba-Chacon was invited by the Maimonides Institute for Biomedical Research of Cordoba (Cordoba, Spain) to give a talk about the role of hepatocyte PPAR gamma in non-alcoholic steatohepatitis. In his talk Dr. Cordoba-Chacon reviewed the effects of the PPAR gamma agonists (Thiazolidinediones or TZD)  in diabetes and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and how the activation of hepatocyte PPAR gamma may reduce the effectiveness of these popular drugs in the reversion of hepatic disease. He presented some of his recent work performed in this area of research. Specifically, the talk described the use of a new mouse model with adult-onset hepatocyte-specific PPAR gamma knockout that can be used to study the effect of TZD in the development of hepatic liver disease.” This seminar was streamed in the channel of the research institute. Conference on the Dissemination of Research in Molecular, Cellular Biology, Genetics and Biotechnology 2018 in Cordoba, Spain
Dr. Cordoba-Chacon was also invited to participate in a retreat organized by the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Cordoba and held between June 13th and 15th 2018.  He showed the scientific interests and results of his group that focused on the regulation of the progression of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease in mouse models with alteration of hepatocyte genes.
