Dr. Hernández-Peraza completed her doctorate in Medicine at Universidad Central del Caribe in her native Puerto Rico. She then attended Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago for her neurology residency, where she also served as chief resident . She was honored by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and The Ken & Ruth Davee Department of Neurology to be the first MS trained Fellow at Northwestern University. She also earned a Masters of Science in Clinical Investigation at Northwestern University.

Dr. Hernández-Peraza’s interest is to understand racial and ethnic differences in MS patients, such as presentation and treatment response, and establish a comprehensive MS clinic at UIC. She will also work with the translational research team to create a bridge between laboratory work done and the bedside to bring better care to MS patients.
