Rodrigo L. Pagani, MD is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Urology at University of Illinois at Chicago. Dr. Pagani completed his medical training at State University of Londrina, and his residency at the Evangelic Hospital of Londrina, in his native Brazil. He then completed a 2- year Fellowship in Male Reproductive Medicine and Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX. From 2002 to 2013, he worked as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Urology at São Paulo University. Before joining UIC, he was the Director of Andrology at InVida Reproductive Medicine / Sírio-Libanês Hospital from 2013 to 2016.
Dr. Pagani specializes in male infertility including evaluation and treatment, genetic causes of infertility, testosterone replacement, and microsurgical procedures such as vasectomy reversal, varicocelectomy, and testicular sperm retrieval.
Dr. Pagani is a member of several prominent urologic societies, including the American Urological Association, the Chicago Urology Society, the American Society of Andrology, and the American Society of Reproductive Medicine. He has received awards from the Society for the Study of Male Reproduction and from the Society for Male Reproduction and Urology.
His ongoing research at the Innovation Center investigates the application of advanced imaging approaches to enhance the chance of sperm retrieval during microsurgery, the application of new technology to perform semen analysis. He is also interested in basic research, focusing on studying molecular biomarkers of spermatogenesis.
