My journey to the UIC Family Medicine Residency Program has taken me all over the country. I grew up in the sunshine state of Florida and ventured mid-west to St. Louis for undergrad where I majored in biology, anthropology and spanish. My next move was to Boston for my master’s degree. I’m hoping the weather there has prepared me well for the infamous Chicago winters. Right before medical school, I had the opportunity to do research in HIV and motivational interviewing in Cape Town, South Africa, which reignited my interest in providing holistic medical care. Last, but not least, I made my way to medical school at Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia (Go Herd!) where I realized my love for the beautiful Appalachian mountains, biscuit sandwiches and family medicine. I had the opportunity to see family medicine physicians in full force in a rural setting. In my fourth year, I decided to do an away rotation at UIC and knew it was the right fit for me. The program had everything I was looking for: strong academic program, urban medicine, a balanced combination of inpatient and outpatient rotations, inspiring attendings, and commitment to caring for underserved populations.
Outside of medicine, my interests include music, movies, the performing arts, reading, hiking, kayaking, yoga, running, road trips, eating, and playing rock band.
I’m so excited to be part of such a wonderful and passionate group of people in UIC Family Medicine Residency Program!
