Born and raised in the western suburbs of Chicago, I initially considered a career in music education. However, my interest in biology, as well as the health issues of some family members, led to my desire to become a physician. I chose to go to college at Illinois Wesleyan because of the opportunity to play clarinet and saxophone on a music scholarship and the strength of their Biology Program. During medical school at the University of Illinois at Chicago, I fell in love with Family Medicine and discovered my passion for caring for underserved and vulnerable patient populations. UIC Family Medicine Residency was my top choice because of the program’s focus on health disparities, strong training within an academic hospital, outstanding women’s health curriculum, and opportunities to grow as a physician leader and educator. Most importantly, I’m excited to continue learning from the wonderful faculty and residents I worked with during medical school! When I’m not working, I am hanging out with family and friends, trying out a new Chicago restaurant or coffee roastery, playing music, or spending time with my wonderful fiancé, Dan, a professional jazz saxophonist in Chicago.
