Why UIC for fellowship
I chose UIC because it is a tertiary liver center that performs multiple liver transplants yearly. The comprehensive GI program offers vast opportunities and exposure to all aspects of gastroenterology including motility, IBD, small bowel transplant, pancreaticobiliary, nutrition, and advanced endoscopy. The faculty is experienced and have a collegial and hands-on approach to training their fellows. I get the opportunity to serve a diverse and undeserved patient population with vast pathology. The procedure volume is abundant between UIC and the VA and last but not least Chicago is an amazing city to live in.
