Dr. Lobo’s clinical and research efforts are focused on the diagnosis and treatment of patients with ocular inflammatory and infectious diseases, including anterior, intermediate and posterior uveitis and scleritis. Her clinical interests include diagnostic testing in infectious uveitis, pediatric uveitis, and novel treatments for ocular inflammatory disease. Dr. Lobo has served as the principal investigator for several multi-center international clinical trials involving the use of novel therapies for the treatment of non-infectious uveitis. Her research interests include factors related to the development and severity of infectious uveitis, the morbidity of childhood uveitis, and the use of biologic response modifier therapies in the treatment of uveitis.
Dr. Lobo completed her residency in Ophthalmology and fellowship in Ocular Immunology and Uveitis in the Harvard Medical School Department of Ophthalmology, Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary. She was on the full-time faculty in the Uveitis Service at Harvard Medical School from 2010-2015. Dr. Lobo joined the UIC faculty in September 2015.
Dr. Lobo is the director of the UIC uveitis/medical retina fellowship. She is a section editor for a number of scientific journals, including Survey of Ophthalmology and Ocular Immunology and Inflammation. She serves on various committees for professional organizations, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology and American Board of Ophthalmology. Dr. Lobo is board certified in ophthalmology.
