I am from Coral Springs, FL (South Florida), where my mom and dad run a small family business started by my grandfather. I have one younger brother, Evan, who is currently playing football in Germany and set to become a firefighter (Proud Sis!!). My boyfriend, Bobby, and I have two dogs – Tyson and Izzy – whom I am obsessed with so, for that reason, I’m limiting dog talk to one sentence.
I played volleyball at the University of Louisville and then headed off to Poland and Norway to play professionally. I made my way back to the University of Louisville for start medical school, and fell in love with the amazing city of Louisville (correct pronunciation “Luhvul”) all over again. We love our people, music, parks, Louisville original restaurants, horses,
and, of course, the C-A-R-D-S Cards Cards Cards (#L1C4).
Despite being dedicated Cards Fans, Bobby and I could not have been more excited to see Chicago on our Match Day letters! (University of Chicago – General Surgery for him and UIC FM for me.) Like a true Family Medicine physician, I LOVE EVERYTHING and that is what made UIC the perfect fit for me. UIC allowed me to pursue all of my interests: global health, homeless and prison medicine, chronic disease management, preventive care, integrative medicine, behavioral health, women’s health, geriatrics and palliative medicine.
UIC FM is a program for the true change agent. If you are motivated by the health care disparities in existence today, and believe that every person has the right to compassionate, humanistic, unbiased, quality healthcare…then UIC FM is a great place to start the beginning of what is destined to be a fulfilling career.
