Dean Azar with the Castroviejo AwardAt the 2016 American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) annual meeting on Sunday, October 16, the Cornea Society co-sponsored a symposium focusing on “Case-Based Cornea Conundrums.”  University of Illinois College of Medicine executive dean, Dimitri Azar, the recipient of the Cornea Society’s prestigious Castroviejo Award for 2016, gave his lecture to cap off the program. Dean Azar spoke about the surgical treatment of presbyopia from the current most widely used treatments to newer options, techniques on the cutting edge and the smart lenses which are currently in development.  He further discussed the various clinical issues involved with each option.
