Project/Activity Summary:

Through physician exchange, this project provides training and guidance for the expansion of the pediatric surgical services available at Danylo Halytsky University’s Children’s Hospital.  Pediatric surgeons from Lviv have spent time observing in the NICU, University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) School of Pharmacy, and in the UIC Division of Pediatric Surgery in 2 and 4 week increments.  Pediatric surgeons from the University of Illinois at Chicago have also participated in training conferences at Danylo Halytsky Lviv National Medical University.  Particular goals of the exchange have been the development of patient management guidelines, development of minimally invasive surgery skills, and the expansion of NICU services, including provision of total parenteral nutrition (TPN).
