Drawn to expanding opportunities for mentoring from high-profile faculty and a clerkship program ranked as the best at UIC College of Medicine, medical students and residents receive a training experience that goes far beyond other hospitals. Hands-on community outreach provides real insight into caring for an urban population, including the underserved. A total of 92 percent of the graduating class passed the Board in 2012, well above the national average for pediatrics residency programs. Our graduates are in great demand, consistently matching to outstanding fellowship programs, joining successful pediatric practices in the community or pursuing careers in academic or hospitalist medicine.

• CHUI Research Seminar Series, featuring internationally renowned lecturers, for residents, fellows, faculty pediatricians
• Pediatrics Career Development Track (CADET): for UIC medical students interested in a children’s health career, this track offers a rich variety of curricular and extracurricular pediatric experiences, career guidance and mentoring
• Fellowship training programs in pediatric hematology-oncology, adolescent medicine, pediatric endocrinology, neonatology, and additional specialty training programs such as neurology are under development.
