Dr. Toriumi is a full-time faculty member of the Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, and Head of the Division of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery UI Chicago; he is board certified by both the American Board of Otolaryngology and the American Board of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery. He completed his residency in at Northwestern University Medical School (Chicago, IL) and two fellowships in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery.

As a professor in the Department of Otolaryngology, Dr. Toriumi teaches both residents and fellows. He participates in a fellowship program sponsored by the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, teaching his specialized techniques. Dr. Toriumi is also the director of resident research and is involved in many research projects with the residents. He’s co-authored and published many medical textbooks including "Open Structure Rhinoplasty" and a "Rhinoplasty Dissection Manual' covering many of the techniques he presently utilizes. He is completing a multiple volume single author rhinoplasty textbook that will be out in early 2018. He has published more than 125 medical papers as well as numerous book chapters. Dr. Toriumi is frequently invited to share his expertise around the world and has made more than 700 presentations at medical meetings.

Dr. Toriumi has previously served as the President of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Dr. Toriumi is on the editorial boards of Laryngoscope, JAMA Facial Plastic Surgery, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and Aesthetic Surgery Journal. His extensive training and consistent attention to detail experience make him one of the best rhinoplasty surgeons in the world.
